Q: What is a Dummy mount, and why do I need a premium package?
A: Depends on your use case. Premium has one dummy mount that offer a way to mount your device under dash or steering wheel when you car is in park. Potential thief can’t see what’s under the steering wheel or under dash from peeking over the window.
Premium also has more mounting accessories that help make the mount stick better.
There is no circuitry inside the dummy mount. You can only hang your device for storage.

The Magmount is your go-to magnetic mount for the comma device, featuring 24 pogo pins for a full-feature Type-C connection and optimized internal wiring for top-notch signal quality. It’s super slim at just 17mm and includes a handy 1/4-inch thread for camera tripods, making it both functional and versatile. Plus, with concerns about smash-and-grab thefts on the rise, our premium set comes with a dummy mount that lets you securely stash your device under the dash, keeping it hidden and cool. Just grab it and attach it to the windshield as you get in—no more fussing around with glove boxes or center consoles!

What is WAF? Wife Acceptance Factor or course! As the co-pilot, it used to be her job to get comma unit connected when we hit the road, she always struggled if I'm being honest. Connecting the unit at times caused some frustrations for both of us but not anymore, that problem is completely solved!
The unit arrived and was installed 2 days before we crossed Canada twice (there and back) from coast to coast on an epic month long road trip.
As mentioned in my title, this is a game changer! The comma device went from, this is just a short trip, I don't feel like plugging it to always having it on since it only takes a few seconds to mount.
The included dummy mount that allows unit to be easily dismounted and hidden (helps avoid a broken window) is not to be dismissed. This dummy mount is a a must in my opinion as you really can't see it from outside.
Still here and on the fence thinking about it? You should have bought one yesterday.

This kit includes everything you need and more, including some extras like additional VHB strips.
If you’ve already installed the mount that comes with the Comma 3X, I found that shoving a thin, stiff plastic spatula/spreader worked well to remove it (shove it between the top of the mount and the windshield until it emerges from the bottom; from there you should be able to pry the rest of the adhesive strip free). What VHB adhesive/material remained on the windshield removed so easily with a razor blade that I had very little to clean up with isopropyl alcohol.
The Magmount itself works very well, with magnets strong enough that I don’t worry about the Comma 3X jostling loose. And it’s so nice to be able to easily remove and store the Comma 3X when I’m parking in public.
So many kudos to the designer of this mount!
My only ding to the rating is because when I ordered this in August, I specifically asked if a new version was in the works and, if so, I’d wait until it was done. I now see that an aluminum version will be released before end of year. I would have much preferred that the seller honor my request (I would have happily waited for the new version).
Not only does this solve the issue of having to carefully remove and reinstall the device, which would even be a hassle with a "Slide Mount" system since the car gets cooked in the sun since it parks in the driveway, but their customer support was amazing in not only their helpfulness but also their responsiveness. I will always be a repeat customer of an operation like this.
Bought this mount for my Comma 3x in my Rivian R1T. The quality is fantastic, and they give you so many extras to ensure you're able to mount it multiple times. I've been using it for over a month in the Texas summer heat and it's been 100% perfect. I HIGHLY recommend you purchase it too. Makes it so easy to take it down and store it for security purposes.
4,4 stars! Living in the real world and not in San Diego will expose your vehicle to significantly high temperatures, and this magnetic mount makes securing your comma in a safer location out of direct sunlight too easy. Once installed, it's easy for non-technically inclined drivers to use while they're out and about in the summer.
The only problem is that the installation instructions were less than crystal clear for certain installation scenarios, requiring full read-throughs to determine which seemingly critical steps are actually optional. I'm fairly technically inclined, and I had to watch the instruction video fully through to comprehend the nuances of the written instructions. My C3X was off the windshield for about 3 weeks before I could install this, but it seems like it is angled down more than previously, making some lights difficult for the comma to see.
